14. ROSS

Persuaded by his friend to join earlier this year, Ross soon rediscovered his love for rugby.

How much experience did you have of playing rugby before joining the Corsairs?
Minimal - I played a bit at school but didn't really get into it.

How did you first hear about Coventry Corsairs RFC?
Through my friend, Sam.

What made you decide to join the club?
Sam had joined through the advice of a mutual friend and he kept raving about it, so I had to see what was going on!

What's the best part of being a member of the Corsairs?
The automatic acceptance of anyone who walks on to the pitch! From the first moment of training I was included and made to feel welcome - it truly is a key part of the club ethos.

What are you most proud of achieving since joining the club?
Considering my complete lack of fitness - actually playing a full 80 (though the last 10 minutes or so were significantly slower)! That and doing our first scrums against Bristol and holding our own!

What's your favourite memory of being part of Coventry Corsairs RFC?
Too many to list! All the banter on and off the pitch makes every session a great time.
Saying that, the karaoke on the way back from the Stags game with Sam, Nathan & George was something special!
(Ed - Having heard a recording of this, I can definitely confirm it was "special")

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of joining the club?
What have you got to lose? You'll meet and make new friends while learning and enjoying an amazing sport. Honestly I was annoyed I hadn't joined sooner!
